Baroque...with 2 servings of legs please!

The word of the day is legs. Let's go back to my place and spread the word.”
― Gena ShowalterCatch a Mate

*That quote is a joke, I hope no one gets offended*

Hello lovelies! Happy New Week to you all!

If you watched my last Youtube video, you'll remember where this entire ensemble is from (in case you haven't watched it, the link to the post is here.
I had always wanted to try out this whole "Baroque" trend and got the chance when this skirt and blouse were on Sale on nastygal.com for about $15 each! I absolutely love the print and the fabric as well.
The shoes were also on Sale on shoedazzle.com (Note, they run large so I went half a size down, which I never ever do but was certainly glad I did!)
There was another top with much more of the print going on but if you paired the 2 together, the outfit would end up looking too much like I dress and I didn't want that.
The wind was against me this day and I almost had a fashion slip but nope, I held that skirt down! I do suggest NOT worrying this on a windy day please, lol. But who knew I had such gams underneath these winter clothes?! Lol. Never judge a person's physique during the winter!

What do you think of the outfit?

Ankara chic

"Let's face it - think of Africa, and the first images that come to mind are of war, poverty, famine and flies. How many of us really know anything at all about the truly great ancient African civilizations, which in their day, were just as splendid and glorious as any on the face of the earth?"----Henry Louis Gates

Hello beautiful people!
The weather in Toronto was shockingly kind and I decided to brave the slight cold with this African inspired dress I found deep deep deep in 1 of my boxes. I had almost forgotten about it but while searching for an old clutch, I found it and immediately knew how I wanted to dress it up.
I love love love African print and as the weather warms, you shall see me sporting more and more of this gorgeous fabric from the motherland.
The dress is from "The African Village" on ebay.com I believe I purchased it for about $30 at the time (shipping included). It's so fun and free and comfortable and I had a blast shooting in it (as you can tell from the pictures).
I love the fiery touch it sort of has, which made me think of using my Ruby Woo lipstick to complete the look. I kept accessories to a minimum, keeping the focus on my outfit, which has enough going on already. I did however go along with the theme and wore my "Map Of Africa earrings" from etsy.com
I sported this look to the office on Friday so yes, it is work and school-friendly!

What do you think?

Let's Talk: Duaba Serwa

Hello lovelies!
Hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for the work/school week. I've been a little busy myself because my brother has moved all the way from England and we spent the weekend together full of laughs, movies and good food! It's crazy how growing up, we were at each other's throats and I hated how controlling he was...but now that we're both adults, we get along fine. Sure we have clashing opinions at times but at least now we both listen more and try to give each person their own space. i guess its one of those things that just happen as you row older and mature so if you're fighting with your brother and think it'll never end...trust me, things change and it gets better!
Well, moving on to the point of this post. I feel like I'm so so late on this one and it is long overdue. I meant to feature this designer back in November but other things have been on my mind and now that she is becoming so big and dressing many African celebrities, I thought this might be a great opportunity to talk about this extremely talented designer and my new designer crush!

Nelly Abogaye is the Ghanian mastermind behind the Duaba Swerwa line.
She is not completely new to the Fashion Industry as she started out by making jewelry before branching out into clothing but her big hit was during last year's Africa Fashion Week as well as Ghana Fashion Week. I instantly noticed her stuff and was drawn to it because of the colors, prints and very feminine cuts. I won't lie, I like just about every single piece from her S/S 2013 collection and have been trying to get a hold of her for months!! I need to get at least 1 dress from her before I turn 24, so I would really love to know what price range her stuff falls into. She has a website that is still under construction which you can view here

You can view her 2012 collection here but I want to bring you her S/S 2013 collection. SO without further ado, I present to you, my absolute favorite collection in the world at the moment; Duaba Serwa:

Fresh off the runway...

This is the one I absolutely wish to get!

Aren't her models so fierce?! Which is your Favorite from her collection?

Follow the (polka) dotted line...

It's the game of life. Do I win or do I lose? One day they're gonna shut the game down. I gotta have as much fun and go around the board as many times as I can before it's my turn to leave.
Tupac Shakur

 Hello beautiful people!
Happy Almost-middle-of-the-week!
As you've probably noticed, I like to have a lot of fun with my pictures and I feel like that quote above by Tupac reflected my mood!

Continuing on in my "cute sweater" theme, here is another adorable sweater from Forever21! I kid you not, it has officially become my favorite sweater in the whole world! So comfy yet cute and stylish and also on trend (I hear polka dots are in this year!) I paired with these pair of tights I got from ebay for about $3. The tights actually have hearts on them but they look like dots in the picture.
This is a more basic look for you the sweater could be worn with a wide array of garments like pants, maxi skirts or A-line skirts.
Once again, the quality is not the best- we're talking Forever21 here so you can't expect the best, but if you don't wear it religiously, you'll be fine! I've started noticing some tearing on my collar so will have to patch that up ASAP!

P.S. While I have your attention, may I kindly remind you to please follow me on Instagram at: theonlyskinnybish and check out my first Youtube video here and subscribe as well to my channel for more!
Enjoy the pictures! As you've probably noticed, I like to have a lot of fun!
