and it's not even my birthday....

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”
― Coco Chanel

Hello beautiful people!! I know it's the holidays and a lot of bloggers are not as active with blogging because we're spending more time doing things with family and celebrating and a lot of blog followers get quite anxious waiting for the next post-well wait no more! I have something to quench your thirsty eyes for a while!

I decided to throw myself a birthday dinner this weekend (my actual birthday is December 26 and I had to work) and had some close friends over. I will be showing mostly my own pictures in order to keep the privacy of my guests. The dress I am wearing is actually the dress I wore for the Miss West Africa pageant but didn't get to show it off the way I wanted to so I thought hey, why not wear it for my birthday! No, I didn't think it was too much, being the diva that I am,lol. This is 1 of my several birthday dresses- you shall be seeing the rest on Instagram so better start following me to see what else I wore!

The dress is by 1 of my favorite designers in the whole world who happens to be my friend- Andrea Iyamah.
Check out her new collection here.

I felt like the Queen B that I think I am in my head. I also got 1 of the coolest gifts ever-a gift card to Sephora!! I'll be posting the cool make up I shall be purchasing using my Gift Card.

P.S. The lipstick I am wearing is MAC's Ruby Woo. Almost every blogger I know has it and I love the way it looks on darker-skinned females like myself.-hard to find a red lipstick like that!

What do you guys think?

How cute do my sister and her bestie look?! This could be a natural hair commercial! lol

More kisses!

My crazy sister and I!

Didn't my guests look fabulous!!?

Studdin' like my daddy

"It doesn't cost a lot of money to look this 'expensive' "...
-Brenda C

Here you are! My first DIY and just in time for the holidays!!!
I'm super excited that my first DIY turned out successfully and wasn't a total flop.
Studs and spikes have been on trend for a while now. I'm not one to follow "trends" but I do love me some studs and spikes-not a crazy-scary amount, just enough to look edgy-er.
I came up with the idea of "studding" my leather jacket from Forever 21 once I saw it in the store, I knew the studs would spice it up. The problem was, I wasn't sure which studs I wanted and what exactly a stud looked like underneath-would I need tape or glue to stick them on? All these questions ran through my brain & guess what I did- I searched on google for "spikes and studs" and the first thing that came up was this website called spikesandstuds.com Now,they have a wide variety so in order to know what I wanted, I went on YouTube and checked out a few tutorials of V loggers showing how to add studs to an outfit and they actually got theirs from spikesandstuds.com as well!
I purchased the "Tall English 77" in Silver for my own look. They cost me about $10-including shipping for a pack of $100 which is great!

Next, I had to start studding! I started off with an old blouse of mine which I have worn out in just a year, just to get some practice. I'll be honest, the first 3 studs took me about 30 minutes to put in because I have long nails and you require a butter knife to sort of flatten the back hooks of the studs...my knife kept slipping off. After the first 5, I became quite the pro! I created a random cluster pattern for my blouse and it turned out cute! What do you think??

Here's what they look like up close.

All you need are studs and a butter knife!

Started with my collar...

You use the knife to flatten the back part of the studs so they stay in place.

...like this!

An hour later!lol

Yay!! My old blouse re-transformed!

Proud of my work

Now I'll work on my jacket..it's much much harder because the jacket is thick so maybe just the shoulders?

Will you be doing any studding to re-invent a piece of your wardrobe? You can do it to your shoes,purse...whatever!

Holiday Looks

"Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice."
Dave Barry

I'm sure everyone is either: thinking about what they'll eat on Christmas Day,trying to wrap up Christmas shopping or still contemplating what to do on Christmas but what about what you'll be WEARING this Christmas? A lot of us also have Office parties and end of year parties coming up-have you thought of what you'll be wearing? Well you don't because I have some ideas for you! Note, some of the pieces are probably not affordable to the average person like us but they will give you ideas, trust me! So without further ado, here are some Holiday Season outfit ideas. Which one would you rock?? Enjoy!

This first one is for the party-going fashionista! Tons of sequins & brights.

My first male look! Very subtle for the laid back gentleman.

Another one for the males-this is for the more daring fashion forward male. I added a touch of Africa with the bracelet.
Those ladies not really feeling like wearing a dress, stay fashionably warm in prints, glitter and a touch of color.

A great New Year's party look-sequins and a pop of color!
For the accomplished and successful woman, why not go with a gorgeous Maxi and bold red lip color!

RED is my go to color for the season! Rock the year's biggest trend-peplum in different cuts. Those Chanel vintage earrings are the perfect touch.
For the lady who loves her clean cuts and minimal colors, try this outfit.

Another look for the lady trying to go more casual this season, a pop of color and sequins is enough.
Probably my personal favorite because of all the glitz and glam in the outfit! The clutch is Marchesa and the heels are Louboutin's so I can only dream!!!

End of year Office Party?? Those emerald earrings are giving me life!!!

Last but definitely not least, the Office party look. You can choose from a number of different clutches-my personal favorite being the coral one. This dress would look amazing on a woman with curves! It's on sale for only $80!!

Fur-ever warm

“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
  Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”
― William W. Purkey

This skirt of mine can be seen in a previous post-I wore it during one of my pageants and it was voted best traditional wear hands down! It was sewn by a very talented local designer here in Canada called Zeena Kay.
(Link to follow her on Facebook below).

I transformed it into a winter & work friendly look by throwing on my faux fur vest I got from Urban Planet last year and my crisp white shirt.
The colors are very Earthy so of course my brown clutch had to be used to accentuate along with gold arm candy.

Thanks for dropping by! While you're here, let me remind you to follow me on Instagram @theonlyskinnybish. Tons of looks on there!
