I present to you,Most Beautiful Girl West Africa.... 1st runner up

So as I had told you guys, I was a contestant in the 3rd annual Most Beautiful West Africa Canada and I came out 1st runner up! I know I had gone in to win but the judges made their choice and oh well. I had an interesting experience and met some new friends! I felt like a little Queen and my mom came all the way from Montreal to support me with my sister so I believe I was a winner! The event was not the most organised but I still had fun.
Next up is the Miss Africa Canada pageant on August 11th! This one is way bigger than the pageant that just happened and is guaranteed to sell out! I shall be updating you on my journey as I go along. I'd just like to thank all those who supported me (my fans) and this post is just to share some pics from the pageant (most are not very clear) and the african attire I wore-created by a Cameroonian designer based in Mississauga! I don't want to put up any really clear shots of my evening gown because I'm re-using it for the one in August, lol. But it's just so beautiful and was made by a designer, also here in Hamilton who happens to be  my friend as well. She's also the one who sewed the colorful Bloom dress I blogged about a while back.-(Andrea Iyamah)

A simple look that works for everyone

So first off, everyone knows that you can make any outfit look classy and trendy by just throwing on a blazer...and that's exactly what I did here. I just paired a skirt (which I got for $5 at Plato's closet!) with my $8 H&M top and this really pretty necklace I got off of ebay for about $9.(Everyone thinks it's made from real gold). After throwing on my blazer (also from H&M), and my red pumps, I was looking on point! I got this blazer just for the gold buttons on the cuffs and along the front! They make it look so much more structured!

"toilet clutch" from H&M as well

Watch out for my next post where I will be giving you my personal review on The L'Oreal Youth code, which is supposed to clear facial scars and dark spots and is selling like crazayyy!

ASSASYN-ATORS-GAGA INSPIRED

SOOO I got myself a pair of the assasynators a while back...just to have something fun and different in my closet...and I actually like them! They are much more easier to walk in than you think and are an immediate attention grabber! Yes I am wearing faux fur in the summer but this is actually a winter look so keep it in your heads until November! (But no sane person will go walking in the snow in these!!)
I pre-ordered them from makemechic before they were even available on the site and just had them hanging around in my room. Definitely Gaga inspired!

Most Beautiful Girl West Africa Canada Contestant :)

Hey everyone,
Sooo yours truly will be competing next Sunday, the 27th of May for the crown of Most Beautiful Girl West Africa Canada, in Toronto! I'm so excited and not yet nervous. The show will include a show case of talent-I will be dancing to some African music, swimsuit competition, evening gown and Questions.
I will definitely be posting pictures after the competition! I can't way to show you guys what I'm wearing!

My main platform will be my charity B.I.I.C which stands for Breast Ironing In Cameroon. Having been a victim of this form of female mutilation, I want to use my platform to bring more awareness to this act and help eradicate it by educating parents and grandparents on the consequences and side effects that this has on women;which include, but are not limited to: Increase risk of Breast cancer, permamnet breast scarring and defrormation, scarring of the breast tisssue and let's not forget low self esteem! I started my charity earlier this year with the help of my friends and family-especially my dear mama. We were both victims but did not let that stop us from being strong women! I created a blog just for my charity, which can be found here: http://www.wix.com/brendachuinkam/breastironing#!
You can learn more about breast ironing-one of the most PAINFUL acts in the world from the blog.
A website is coming soon, I'm just waiting on my web designer to complete the logo and for the Canadian Charities Association to provide me with an official charity number.

So do support me! I really want to win this! With all the viewers I have, I know this is going to go around. I'm sharing a sensitive piece of me because I know it can help at least 1 person..1 girl.

XOXO

Let's zig zag-Another work look

Here's another trendy outfit look-with 2 different hairstyles (which means I obviously took them on very different days! (My fellow weave-ers will understand). Earlier on, I had paired the jumpsuit with a skinny leather belt which you can't see properly and a cool red hair tie and then later on I kept it more simple with just the blazer & some rouge lipstick but I wore some combat boots as well (which you cannot see) which made the whole look more grudgy. Which look do you prefer?

Incarcerated mothers spend mother's day with Jail visits from their kids

On par with mother's day, I thought it would be nice to share with you how the mothers at California Institute for Women state prison in Chino, California celebrate this special day-well they get to see their precious little ones who they usually see only about once a year! I think the person who came up with this idea is a blessed soul! No matter what these women did or did not do, I believe these mothers deserve to see their babies.

According to statistics, about 200,000 California children have an incarcerated parent and live with relatives or in foster care! That's just crazy.
The Get on the Bus programme, which is funded by schools, churches and organisations alike, has become a way for such parents to stay connected with their children. The look of love and joy on the mothers' faces is priceless!

Check out the pictures by clicking on the link below...
Hopefully this situation will serve as a deterrent for these inmates to NOT commit these errors in the future!

One top,3 different ways...and a riding pant.

So still referencing my trip to PA for my sister's grad, I originally was supposed to fly there, but due to unforeseen circumstances (which I could share at a later date), I ended taking the bus. I had packed light, as I had thought I was going to fly, and I actually only had 1 SINGLE TOP in my suitcase. Yes,you read right-1 top for 4 days! OooO! How did I make it work you ask? Well, here it is:

The top actually cost JUST $10 from H&M!! I love it! it's a staple classic and a must-have for this summer, you can pair it with jeans, pants, long skirts, short skirts etc etc. Here are the 3 ways I paired it over the weekend!

The "head band" in the first pic is actually an old scarf I got from Forever 21 about 3 years ago...the Tribal bangles are from Etsy.com
Black skirt-from rarefashion.co.uk
Green riding pants-American apparel!

Here's a close up of the bangles:

and here's another shot of the riding pants-so hot right now!

Color blocking with my Bloom dress-Perfect for Spring

Bonsoir my dear dear followers! I know I have been MIA for so long but I took a mini-vacation and headed down south for my sister's graduation from Penn State University!-Shout out and congrats to her!!! I had tons of fun and met a fellow blogger called Amber! She's so creative and makes her own clothes and bow ties, I can't wait to collaborate with her! I also spent the night with my sister's friend Joanna who was so nice and welcoming. State College Pennsylvania is practically a university campus! The entire city is built around the campus and it can take you an hour to get from one building to another! In other words, the campus is hugeeee! I shall soon post with more details regarding the campus, the ceremony etc etc but right now, I just need to show off this dress I wore for my sister's grad! I am not exaggerating when I say this caught the eye of every woman (and almost every man-LOL) and I received so many compliments and "where did you get it from?" The dress is by Andrea Iyamah, an up and coming designer here in Canada who I am collaborating with veryyy soon for another customised item. I love her designs because she uses so much color (which everyone knows I loveee),she knows how to use elastene to enhance curves and she as a person is fun and bubbly, not at all stuck up,considering the success she's currently amassing around here and in Nigeria-seriously,she's booked for shows for the entire summer!
Anyhow, without further ado, here's what I looked like in the Bloom dress that took 2 people to zip me up into! and I had to go bra-less!(which I haven't done since Grade 5!) LOL

I took so many pictures in it-(sorry mom)and since this is MY blog, I get to put up tens of my favorite shots! LOL

My dear sissie and I :)
 P.S. Rocking them box braids!!

Let me know your thoughts and if you want to get more details on how to order from her site!
Cheers.

Thanks for commenting! I love you.

Where there are colors, there is inspiration.
**Thank you so kindly for your comments, they make my day! If you leave the link to your blog I shall check it out and most likely follow you but please follow back.**
