Why are we so happy to be called skinny?

Ok ok, so this must be blog history I'm making right here! 2 posts in 1 night?? Has it ever been heard of??Oh well....
1 of my friends "complimented" me the other day, she said "omg Brenda you look soo good. You've lost so much weight, you're like a size 0"...and guess what...I WASN'T HAPPY. Weird huh? Nope! If this happened just a year ago, I would have been so excited about the compliment! and then later on asked myself, "wait, why am I happy about that again?" Oh yea, because I want to be skinny like the girl I saw in the magazine with the nice dress...Why does you look good=you lost weight. Why can't Aww, you look healthy=you look beautiful, or you gained some weight and look fabulous=you're so sexy. Usually "you gained weight goes with ..."BUT you still look good. Why the "BUT?"
I know I am probably the worst person to tell if you're already slim and you lose weight, but I'm actually joking.
I always fake-hate on people who are below size 6 (just 'cause sometimes I do wish I was a size 6,but hey, we all have our days)and I have soo many friends who lose weight without even trying while I used be there eating corn, tuna and green beans for dinner before I can squeeze into a dress 2 weeks later! I also know peple who live for compliments like "omg you look so skinny" or "you lost weight, good".I used to be like that, but not anymore. But why has our society equated losing weight with looking good? Jennifer Hudson had never ever been on any top 100 most beautiful lists before her scary(yes I said scary) weight loss. But just this year, she was on both People's and Maxim's Top 100 list and she was pretty high up there too! SO when she was bigger she wasn't "hot" enough? That's weird, because when she was bigger, she had enough self-confidence for 2! How come that wasn't sexy enough?Hmm...
I always wonder how come Jordin Sparks or Ravne were never on these lists! They are 2 of the most beautiful woman in Hollywood! (Although their recent weight loss will probably get them on next year's lists). The media always says how curvy and thick Beyonce is...when she looks slim to me! Ashanti or even Alicia Keys would be called thick, not Beyonce.Scarlett Johanssen is skinny as well in my books, that's not thick.
ALL of my friends know that I have my moments (more than I'm proud of) of gym/eating healthy obsession but the fact is, I would never EVER want to be a size 0, nor a size 2....not even a 4! I know my body shape and I would hate to lose my butt and breasts or my hips. The thighs and calves on the other hand...well that's another story for the next post: "THAT body part"....What's your take on this whole "skinny bitch" craze (as I like to call it),no offense intended.
Till then, I remain Brendaly yours...

Motherly instincts.

Soo,this is cool, day no.2 of being bed ridden and I'm writing my 2nd blog post! I got to speak with 2 of my closest friends today after I finally got my SKype running (Joso and DJ u know yourselves :) <3) so I'm in a good mood. Plus! I'm finally feeling betterrrr yayy! Idleness gets my mind running as you'll learn soon enough. This one is so random...it's about motherly gestures.

I believe that a mother to one is a mother to all and once a mother, always a mother, even if the kid(s) is/are not yours. I came up with this blog because I was recalling an incident that occured with my little sister. Our aunt, who has no kids went to visit her when she got her wisdom teeth pulled out and my sister picked up on soo many things she did/did not do that my mom would have either done or not done. For example, my aunt wore heels and dressed really nice for the doctor's appointment, knowing that she would be with a sick child who does not drive so A) she would be walking and B) she would be with a sick child so all that might get in the way. Something as little as that struck me because I knew that if my mom were there, she would be in flats and probably dressed won, expecting to either run for a bus or for her child to fall sick on her. My aunt was also very interested in checking out the shops after my sister had had her surgery, forgetting that the anaestisia was probably wearing out and my sister may be in pain ( my mom would have said they should go straight home for my sister to rest). Lastly, and the thing that struck me the most, is the fact that my sister was lying on the same bed with my aunt and she started crying because she was in pain, and my aunt did not even notice. I am in NO WAY saying my aunt is selfish and awful because she is not and happens to be one of the nicest relatives I have, but it was just very very interesting to hear this because there is no way on Earth my mom could sleep on the same bed with one of her children and not know if the child were crying. I just saw this as an examlpe of how motherly instincts are sometimes exactly what it sounds like "instincts only a mother can possess". I am confident that my aunt will attain more of these when she decides to have children, but for now, I just want us to sit back and reminisce about the times our mothers knew something about us before we even opened our mouths, or called us out of the blue to say "I'm proud of you" or "I miss you" or better yet, "I love you".
WHy does it always feel like whatever your mom makes for you tastes ten times better than when you or anyone else makes/does it??? Even something as simple as a cup of hot chocolate, whenever she makes it, it just tastes so much better to me! If it's a fried egg, it just tastes way tastier knowing that she made it (yes, me and my love of food again!lol). It's when I started to hit my late teens that I REALLY started to appreciate my mom and I'm thankful that I did before it was too late.
~I love u mama :)
