And the weather gets better...

Yes! I think it's official; I think the good weather is here to stay but let's not jinx it!

It's a long weekend here in Toronto and it couldn't come sooner! I have a list of activities planned out and am excited to be going for a FREE Lady Antebellum concert which will be taking place downtown Toronto tomorrow at 4pm! How lucky are we Torontonians?!
Here's an entire outfit from boohoo.com. This was my first time ordering from them and it will NOT be my last time. I'm always happy when a company offers FREE shipping (minimum order of $25) and has cute, versatile items and boohoo has been added to my list of favorite online shopping sites! It took Yes, the material isn't of the highest quality but it's decent and fits proper. The skirt took exactly 12 days to get here-a little longer than what they had estimated.
I have a few more items from them and can't wait to share with you guys :)
 Enjoy the shots!
**P.S. I'm sooo excited that I'm finally mastering my camera and getting it to do what I want it to do! It's all about the lenses and various settings. I'll explain later...

Hehehe, my remote control is showing :)

The skirt is unfortunately sold out and had cost $24 but I'm loving this one and this here.

Twirl...I'm gone with the wind fabulous...with a DIY Ankara Belt

I am not too fond of doing throwback posts but this one is long overdue!

I got this dress about 2 months ago from lulus.com and knew it was the one-lol. I loved the feminine cut and just how flirty and twirls it looked-perfect for the warmer weather.
It's one of those dresses that serves as a canvas because it is so "plain" on its own that you can build up any look from it. I decided to keep things pretty basic but spiced up my dress by adding a self-made ankara belt. (I made the belt by taking a really old Ankara dress that doesn't fit and cutting off the bottom hemline and then folding it in 2!
I felt very twirly in the dress, enjoy the pictures :)

Kente Overload

Hello once again lovelies! With my natural hair out and about, I somehow feel more experimental and rocker-chic (I really don't know why) but anyhow, I also feel like wearing tons of African fabric! I bought this fabric last year at Toronto's Afrofest and the lovely ZEENA KAY OF Z.NAK DESIGNS was gracious enough to turn it into something!

This is my new favorite skirt-it's fun and chic and very attention-grabbing.
Whenever I wear it, this is the song that comes to mind:

LOL! :)
Kente is a Ghanaian fabric (which is what the skirt and clutch are made from!) and this Azonto song is also from Ghana-how appropriate.

The clutch is also by Zeena Kay-Can you believe my skirt and the clutch are not from the same fabric?! They do look like they were made from the same fabric!
Please message Zeena if you're interested in getting your own cool skirt/clutch made :)

Happy Nappy-versary!

Every man has his right to a "preference" of hair type among black women but he should be ashamed of himself if that alone is a determining factor in whether or not he pursues a relationship with them."

Happy Sunday Skinny Bish-ers!
If you've been a loyal fan of my blog, you would know I chopped off my hair last year in order to re-start afresh. My hair was so thin and I was lacking some frontal hair so I was getting fed up of relaxing it and getting disappointed after each visit to the salon. I didn't shave everything off completely but rather would braid my hair for months at a time in order to let the natural hair grow out and then I would just chop off the top layer-always leaving enough left over for me to do braid again. It took about 4 visits to the salon before I got all the relaxed hair chopped off. Here's what the first chop off looked like: Brenda's first chop-off (some relaxed hair was still left over as you can tell.
I had also informed you guys that I was going to try Carol's Daughter transitioning kit and I am pleased to say it did work for me! **Note, a lot of shedding occurs and it scared me at first and I do suggest you get yourself some good hair oil as well because the moisturizer isn't as moisturizing as I thought it would be**.
I am overall satisfied with the product-it smells great and makes my hair feel good and helped get rid of the weaker relaxed hair (thus the shedding).
Well, the results are in and in celebration of my 1 year nappyversary and feature in Black Girl Long Hair Magazine (which I will post the link to soon enough, I would like to show you what my hair looks like today as well as the products I use on my hair.
*P.S. If you know of any great products that minimize shedding and make hair easier to comb (not a texturizer), please let me know in the comments section!*

This was my first time EVER attempting any kind of braiding whatsoever and I must say I am proud of the results. This is how I braided my hair before bed so it is manageable in the morning and also to lock in the moisture.

My Besties :)

I put Raw Shea butter in my hair for extra extra moisture. It comes hard as a rock in this container so I melt it before usage and put a tablespoon in my hair.

Lots of pictures,I know!!
